Exciting news on the home front, this week I got the keys for my first property! You have no idea how excited I am to finally be moving. All I want to do now is get decorating and furnishing to make this house a home. I’ve joined the ‘First Time Buyer Club’ – granted, it’s not as glamorous as the Dallas Buyers Club but its a start.
Now, naturally there’s quite a lot of things to do to this house. The whole place needs painting, new carpets and furnishing – the works. But it’s a project I can’t wait to sink my teeth into.
“The Adventures Of A First Time Buyer”
I’m tempted to document and blog the do-up of the house. This can be my take on a lifestyle/home renovation segment but without the technical knowledge, skills or taste.
If I can have it all my way (and afford it), the house will be filled with so many bizarre trinkets, designs and furnishings. Fear not dear readers, I’m sure I’ll be able to create something pretty odd on the small budget that I have.
Imagination costs nothing. Jokes, my house will probably look like vomit, but you can always sprinkle some glitter on it.
These probably won’t be the most frequent or philosophical blog posts. They’re going to be more like journal entries into my inevitable struggles with manual labour and DIY.
The first thing that has to go in the house is definitely this giant vinyl sticker quote which takes up half of a living room wall.
Because let’s be honest, nobody wants/needs this in their house – but that’s not to say my designs will be anymore tasteful.
And for all of your viewing pleasures, here’s the musical that inspired this whole project – ‘Somewhere That’s Green‘ from Little Shop Of Horrors. Audrey shares my simple desires of a standard suburban home, complete with a washing machine – she’s my ‘first time buyer’ goals. Enjoy.
