ONE DAY TO GO! The wait is nearly over for the first-ever season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and the buzz has been insane! Our 10 queens are raring to go to find out who will become Britain’s reigning monarch. But who will snatch the crown and put Britain on the Drag Race map?
And for most of my UK readers, you’ve probably already seen BBC Three’s official teaser trailer and to those who haven’t – you’re in for a treat. The trailer is camp, creative and quintessentially British. Picture a 1970’s sitcom and that’s where this trailer begins.
Each queen has brought their unique style to the set, some are serving high-fashion sass, others are looking as camp as Christmas day and I’m living for all of it. Who said British queens are busted?! Those people are wrong… Boo-hiss-boo.
How good was that opening trailer?!
I love the use of a stale laughter track in the early stages of the trailer with the queens making naff jokes like an old British sitcom and then boom – flip the switch and the queens are having a rave. What more is there to love?! This is legitimately what British drag is all about.
I hope and pray that this season will be camp and offensive, British drag and British humour is filth and fun and I can only wish that the producers will let that shine through. I’m hoping we see some close-to-the-bone comedy and some truly offensive Snatch Game characters for the love of all that is English.
