We only have just under one week left to wait for the Moschino x H&M collaboration to hit the stores! The collection, also known as H&Moschino has been highly anticipated as this year’s H&M designer collaboration series that has been running 2002 when H&M first worked with Karl Lagerfeld.
Every year H&M teams up with a global fashion house to design a high street marketed collaboration. This year is no exception. We’ve seen some incredible designers and fashion houses collaborate over the years. Including; Versace, Maison Margiela, Balmain, Kenzo and Anna Dello Russo to name but a few. And now we’re only 1 week away from the Moschino collection which is a complete 180 from the Erdem collection we saw last year.
The collection designed by Jeremy Scott is a cheeky nod to the 90’s – who am I kidding, it’s a gargantuan nostalgia-fest and I love it! The 90’s is a real love/hate decade for fashion and though there were some truly awful things in it, there are some excellent pieces of nostalgia that we still wear today. tracksuits and ugly trainers are still going strong.
“Whenever I design, I think about my friends. The Moschino x H&M lookbook is like a party; celebrating the fun, the pop, the creativity, and the energy of the people and the collection.”
And Jeremy wasn’t joking about being influenced by his friends. For the photographic lookbook, Jeremy featured some of his nearest and dearest. His assistant Sakura Bready and head of PR and best friend Pablo Olea make a few appearances throughout. We also have an adorable little dog wearing some of the clothes as you’ve seen above as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 winner, Aquaria and model Teddy Quinlivan to name but a few.
Here are a few things I absolutely love!
As you can imagine, I’m pretty f’ing excited for this collection to drop. I feel like there are a lot of pieces here that I’m already going crazy for and I just hope I can get my hands on some of them.
The ‘Ready To Wear’ condom t-shirt
Obviously, I think this top is utterly hilarious and I need it in my life. The fact it says ‘ready to wear’ over a giant unrolled condom is beyond hilarious and something I will proudly wear – come on, I wear my Vivienne Westwood tit top to most events. I think this could be my new disgraceful-but-I-can’t-help-but-wearing-in-inappropriate-situations top.
This condom bag
For reasons very similar to the t-shirt, I really want this hilarious clutch bag. The purse is designed to look like a condom wrapper with the Moschino logo on one side and the ‘ready to wear slogan’ on the other. I think it will become a staple of my gay-bar attire.
This fetish biker outfit
Now, I never really thought I’d be after a pair of leather trousers, but after seeing these, I know I need them! Also, I kinda love the leather biker jacket with gold chain zips and gold chains running throughout the design. It’s kind of in your face, it’s a bit tacky but yet it’s still unbelievably awesome.
The oversized combination padlock bag(?)
I hope this isn’t just a funny prop because I really want this giant padlock. I’m assuming it’s a bag and I want it as a lunchbox for work. Sure, I might look like a weirdo on the bus – but I will be feeling my oats.
Alternatively, if a giant combination padlock isn’t your thing, how about another padlock bag. This padlock may be a little more to your taste. It’s got a shoulder strap, a bigger logo and it’s gold!
This ballin’ Donald Duck sports jersey
Come on, who wouldn’t want an oversized sports top with Donald Duck on the decks emblazoned through the middle? This duck is cooler than cool and so is the top.
A H&Moschino towel
There’s nothing much to say with this one, it’s a towel with the collaboration logo and I like it. It’s minimalist, black and white and it looks chic – I want to take this to the beach.
Some black leather dungarees
A little bit different, a little bit hillbilly fetishwear but I actually think these are pretty nice dungarees and I’d quite like a pair (this list is starting to add up quite a bit).
Sassy black boots with gold chains
A nice simple pair of black boots with some fun gold chain details. Tempted to pair these with the gold chain leather jacket and leather black pants.
This diva tracksuit
Yes, this outfit is probably only a womenswear piece, however, I really like this gaudy tracksuit. It reminds me of early Jeremy Scott designs from the pre-Moschino days and for that reason I love it. Who knows, maybe I’ll be brave and just buy it.
The MTV/Moschino bumbag
Timeout, hold up. Hold up, sweetheart. Let’s get it together before you wanna read. I don’t have a bumbag, sweetheart. Everything that I’ve had, I’ve worked for, and I worked to get and I’ve built myself. So you need to know that 100%. I don’t have a bumbag, I’ve never had a bumbag. If I wanted a bumbag, yes, I probably can go out and get one, because I AM WHAT? SICKENING. You could never have a bumbag because you are NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL. Baby, everything I’ve had I worked for, and I’ve gotten myself. I built myself from the ground up, FUCKING BITCH! – Yes that was me adlibbing Shangela’s sugar daddy rant from Drag Race, but come on, I kinda want a bumbag now.
But enough about what I want. Here’s the rest of the lookbook:
I don’t know about you, but I think this is a pretty cool collection. It’s pretty on-brand for Moschino. It has graphic designs, chains, denim, 90’s nostalgia and a whole lot of tacky fun. Here’s hoping I manage to bag a handful of stuff on release day! If not, I think I’ll be very upset.
