It was only a matter of time before we were graced with a teaser for the eagerly anticipated Alexander McQueen biopic, McQueen. That’s right, we’ve been blessed with a trailer for the documentary. Directed and produced by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui.
Who is Alexander McQueen?
Lee Alexander McQueen CBE was an everyday bloke with an extraordinary talent. British designer Lee took the fashion world by storm with his creativity, flair and romanticised view of the grotesque, garish and sinister.
The documentary aims to showcase the behind-the-scenes magic. The artistry and theatrical spectacles that McQueen turned fashion shows into will be dissected and discussed.
Fashion should be a form of escapism, and not a form of imprisonment.
The trailer showcases some of McQueen’s most iconic moments. Everything from the SS10 Platos Atlantis collection where we first saw the Armadillo shoes and robots livestream the catwalk to the AW06 show where we saw a futuristic hologram of an etherial Kate Moss.
“If you leave without emotion, I’m not doing my job properly, I want you to feel repulsed or exhilarated.”
The documentary aims to give us all a look at the man behind the magic. McQueen will take a deeper look into the meanings behind some of McQueen’s the world’s most iconic runway shows.
The film wants to explore his working-class routes and how he became one of the most influential men in the most elite realms of the fashion industry.
